I'd like to highly recommend the Corner Pub [
www.pubalicious.com] for breakfast, lunch, or dinner; or just a relaxing beverage after work.
It's new (2 years old), clean, and airy (lots of glass). There are deck tables where you can watch the sun set over downtown Decatur. The owner, his father (who acts as the greeter), and the staff are friendly and the service is good. The food is in the good to great range. There's a good selection of beverages. The 5-7PM "regulars" are friendly and welcome newcomers.
It's just across the tracks from Decatur Heights, in the East Decatur Station on E. College Ave. (between the MARTA pedestrian overpass and ACE Hardware -- just east of the Commerce Ave auto underpass under the tracks).
It's a short walk by entering the MARTA statioon at Sycamore & Ponce, walking across the overpass, turning right and walking down the steps, crossing Sam's and New streets, and turning left at Figos.
If you're driving or biking, cross Sam's Crossing, turn left on E. College, go past Sam's and New streets, then turn left into the East Decatur Station parking lot. Look for the place with lots of glass.
If you drive, and have a few too many, you can walk home, then walk back in the AM to pick up your car.
A little history, for anyone interested:
The original Corner Pub was across the tracks and up the road a tad from the Thinking Man. A few years ago, it burned, after only being open 9 months. Friends held fundraisers to help the owners and employees, and helped build the inside of the new Pub.
